Ry is a lighting designer based in New York. He recently graduated from Reed College in Portland, OR, where he designed the lights for student thesis shows, including 4.48 Psychosis and The Gas Heart. He assisted on numerous mainstage productions at Reed, as well as several professional productions in Portland, and one in Venice, Italy.
In New York, he has worked with The Theater of the Two-Headed Calf and the Brouhaha Theater Project, as well as designed in several festivals around the city. He is interested in the language of color developed by the LGBT community and how it is incorporated into the visuals of queer stories.
He is a co-founder and resident narrator for Theater of the Well Dressed, a theater company that specializes in enacting queer utopia by re-telling classic tales with glitter, lip-syncing, and boy bands.
He will be starting Calarts in the fall of 2018.
